One would be difficult to find a player with a better wingspan of 365 days than Fabian Ruiz. A little less than a year ago, the Spain International played a massive role in La Roja's conquest of UEFA Euro 2024. This followed with another decorated season at club level with Paris Saint-Germain, which so far won four trophies, including the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League.
The biggest price of all could be placed on Sunday in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 â„¢, in which PSG earned a date in the decider against Chelsea FC after a dominant 4-0 win against Real Madrid CF in which Ruiz Los Blancos torled with two goals.
His performance on Wednesday for a full house in Metlife Stadium in New York New Jersey earned him the Michelob Ultra Superior Player of the Match -Sub -Discivation. He was full of joy when he spoke with FIFA after the game.
“It's a great feeling. I think it's a very special game, very great to be in this field against a great team like Real Madrid,” said Ruiz. “I think the whole team played a great game. I am happy with the job we have done, because it is the MVP, what my first of this tournament is. The truth is that it is always something very special to receive a prize like this. It is time to celebrate that we are now in a different final.”
At the age of 29, Ruiz feels like he is playing his best football under Luis Enrique, and the fact that a memorable season can be covered with a global title, makes it just sweeter.
“The truth is that I am going through a really great moment in my career,” he said. “I think it is one of the best, if not the best. We come from an incredible season, we only have one match to complete things, so I am very happy at a personal level, but more at team level. We play very attractive and beautiful football, while the team at the same time shows that they want to be a champion in all tournaments and just one game for us.”
With his brace against the Spanish giants, Ruiz not only catapulted himself in the race to win the top scorer of Bank of America with three goals and one assist, but has emerged as one of the best players in the tournament.
“I know it is so hard to win those prizes, so I don't think about that, but rather that we have a competition that is important on Sunday and we want to finish the season with a trophy,” said Ruiz.
