Fan favorite lists surprising pick for the biggest threat to Belal Muhammad

The current Welterweight champion is currently not short of potential challengers while he is preparing to make his first title defense.

Belal Muhammad has already been booked to face Jack della Maddalena in the UFC 315 main event because Shavkat Rakhmonov is not available.

Another top candidate at 170 pound came out last weekend when Sean Brady Leon Edwards dominated and walked in London.

With his only loss that comes to the current champion, Brady went back and forth with Muhammad on social media after the biggest victory of his career.

However, it is an emerging wonderful weight candidate of which Renato Moicano believes it will be the biggest test for 'Remember the name' as soon as he comes in position for a title shot.

Renato Moicano calls Carlos Prates as the biggest threat to Belal Muhammad

During a recent episode of The Show Me The Money Podcast, Renato Moicano gave his opinion about how Sean Brady corresponds to a rematch at Belal Muhammad.

The favorite of the lightweight fan explained that he does not believe that the American challenger can avenge his loss if he gets a chance on the title.

Moicano does not even see anyone in the top 10 of Welterweight who can now beat this version of Mohammed.

With the warning that it will take him some time to earn a title shot on 170 pounds that would give him time to keep improving, Moicano called his colleague Brazilian Carlos Prates as the biggest threat to the champion's title line.

'The Nightmare' was one of the breakout stars of 2024 with four consecutive victories and knockouts after arrival in the promotion via Dana White's Contender Series in 2023.

Prates, which is arranged on #13, is now on the #10-ranked Geoff Neal on UFC 314 on April 12 where he will look to catapult himself in the top 10.

Moicano believes that the Fighting Nerds star has the right qualities to beat Muhammad instead of some of the best grapplers in the division.

“I think Carlos Prates. I think the problem with Sean Brady, they will destroy each other in struggling and Belal is better at striking than Sean Brady. Sean Brady has to evolve.

“He does the conditioning and nobody works harder than he, so I think I now, where he is, out-wrestling will not be an option, so you have to switch it off, that's what I think … and maybe it is because I want another Brazilian to have the shot in the belt, but I think Carlos Prates is a solid man.”

We still have a lot to learn about Carlos Prates

Despite the fact that Fight -Fans fight four times four times last year, there are still a few unanswered questions around him.

We still do not know what the Brazilian looks like when he is facing an elite grappler, the later rounds becomes or is forced to overcome some adversity.

That said, part of the reason that these questions exist is because Prates has so far been absolutely ruthless in the Octagon.

One thing we know about the 31-year-old is that he has the murderous instinct that is needed to get the most out of the striking fairs against a dominant wrestler such as Belal Muhammad.
