Fans CUT SHORT minute’s silence in tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva

There were disappointing scenes when a small group of fans did not perceive the silence of the minute in memory of Diogo Jota prior to the final of the community Shield of Sunday.

On July 3, Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, died when their car crashed in North Spain in the early hours.

The 28-year-old attacker was recently married to his childhood love during a ceremony in his native Portugal after a campaign with great in trophy-winning successes for both club and country.

Premier League champions Liverpool stood opposite FA Cup winners Crystal Palace in the traditional seasonal increase in the season on Wembley on Sunday afternoon and there was no doubt that the opportunity would be used to pay tribute to Jota ..

The competition is usually a joyful opportunity for the two teams who participated, but there was no doubt that there was a cloud of sorrow that was kicking off the house of football before kicking off.

Reds -legend Ian Rush and Palace -chairman Steve Parish saw wreaths on the side of the field in memory of the two brothers.

The Liverpool -half of the stadium was flooded with banners and flags dedicated to Jota, while TNT sports cameras even saw a palace fan with his name on his shirt.

Both sets players understood their way to the field, a minute of silence followed before the game started.

And it soon became clear that some in the ground did not observe it well.

The muttering of Ruis was then met with the anger of the Liverpool fans before they then dealt with applause, the minute of silence was demolished.

The tribute followed it that took place in Anfield on Monday when Liverpool played their first games on their home base since the tragic event.

Anfield was accused of emotion when Liverpool fans and club legends express their respect to Jota and his brother for two games against Athletic Bilbao.

Reds -legend Phil Thompson and Bilbao President Jon Uriarte put wreaths on the field, in front of the head.

The billboard around the field was: “Rest in Vrede Diogo Jota and Andre Silva, you will never walk alone,” while supporters sang Jota's name when Thompson and Uriat walked onto the field. The choir started again at the start of the game.

The crowd also held flags and banners up to remember Jota and got up to applaud – next to both teams – in the 20th minute, a nod to the shirt number of the attacker.

The front of the MatchDay program was decorated with photos of Jota that celebrate goals and the words 'Diogo Jota, forever our number 20'. It contained a number of emotional tribute, including a death notice entitled 'Forever Our No 20'.

The brothers and sisters were also honored before pre-season games against Preston North End, AC Milan and Yokohama FM.

After the incident, Liverpool announced that Jota's No 20 would immediately retire for all levels after consultation with his widow and his family.

A 'Forever 20' emblem has also been printed on the new Kits from Liverpool, which made his first appearance against Bilbao. It stays in place all season.

Plans are underway for a permanent memorial cult pure in Anfield, while flower wreaths will be laid for the Premier League opener of the Reds Premier League on 15 August.

After he came to Wolves in 2020, Jota scored 65 goals in 182 performances for the club, so that they helped the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
