VAR was back in the spotlight during Tottenham's clash with Chelsea on Sunday as Moises Caicedo escaped punishment for an ugly challenge on Pape Matar Sarr.
Caicedo went over the ball and caught the Spurs man on his shin with his studs, with Sky's match commentators Peter Drury and Jamie Carragher both immediately saying he could be in big trouble.
However, Carragher was shocked when VAR quickly ruled that no further action needed to be taken.
'What? Did I miss something there? That's unbelievable,” said the former Liverpool man.
'I don't like seeing people sent off the field. I always think the officials should do their utmost to keep the situation 11v11, but it was absolutely certain that it would be a red card. They got away with a big one, Chelsea.”
Caicedo wasn't even booked for the incident and the majority of fans on social media clearly agreed with Carragher.
One posted on X: 'Yes, that should have been a red card for Caicedo after a dangerous challenge on Sarr. How he ended up not getting a booking for this at all is beyond me.'
Another wrote that it 'should be red for Caicedo', while journalist Henry Winter asked how on earth Caicedo didn't see red for that challenge on Pape Sarr?'
Caicedo remained on the pitch and would prove to have a huge impact on the match.
Tottenham took an early 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski.
However, Chelsea hit back through a fine strike from Jadon Sancho before Caicedo gifted his side a penalty, which was cleared by Cole Palmer.
