Mix became the latest controversial name to jump from the PFL to UFC this year, but his arrival in the leading promotion of the sport did not go to plan.
The ex-caller Bantamweight Champion debuted on UFC 316, an event with the head of Merab Dvalishvili who submitted Sean O'Malley to defend his 135 pound belt for the second time.
In the run -up to the event, Mix expressed confidence about fighting Dvalishvili. But his comments about the difficulty of passing Mario Bautista before he was aimed 'the machine' to bite the newcomer, because Mix was convincingly postponed in Newark.
After that result, some quickly wrote off the 31-year-old, but the possibility for mix to recalculate his title plans in the UFC has now been added to the calendar.
