Fans were torn in David Moyes after he followed the horror challenge of James Tarkowski on Alexis Mac Allister after the Merseyside Derby.
The Everton defender was lucky to avoid a red card for the reckless tackle on the Argentinian midfielder of Liverpool, who criticized the experts of Sky Sports.
Ex-Reds defender Jamie Carragher hit the 'shocking' decision of VAR not to send Tarkowski, while Everton legend Duncan Ferguson later agreed.
However, Moyes defended the tackle and suggested that it was appropriate for the occasion. In an interview after the game, he said: 'At first it was a brilliant tackle for a derby game. A tackle that we would have seen a few years ago.
'I understand nowadays that things are something different with follow-throughs. We may have been lucky, don't do that for the goal because the goal was another incident that Liverpool won the match. '
It was not long for fans to share their opinion about Moyes' comments and labeled him 'embarrassing' for his daring view.
A fan wrote: “It is a bit embarrassing a current Premier League manager in David Moyes does not know the rules of the game.”
'Really bad that of Moyes. Don't know the offside and the brilliant Tackle from Tarkowski. Stay physical tactics with your hoofball, “said another.
“I love Moyes, ignores Pickford and Tarkowski who tries to break the legs's legs,” wrote a user.
Another said: 'Oh so according to Moyes they had' somewhat lucky 'with the Tarkowski -Tackle, but our goal was absolutely offside. Perfect manager for the Blue S *** '.
In the 11th minute of the game, the stand-in-skipper of Everton knew the ball but launched the ground and clattered with his sequel in Mac Allister.
Afterwards, Liverpool said Arne Slot: “Even people who don't love Liverpool say how clear and clear (a red card) it was.”
Referee Sam Barrott gave a mistake on the field and immediately produced a yellow card for Tarkowski. VAR checked the incident, but quickly decided that it was neither worth a red card, nor a second look through a Barrott monitor.
The Premier League imposed a statement on x minutes later: “The call from the Yellow Card's referee for a reckless error by Tarkowski was checked by the VAR, with contact on the next after Tarkowski had played the ball that was considered reckless.”
Everton legend Duncan Ferguson, known as a tough man during his match days, made his feelings clear during his half-time Punditry Stint for Sky Sports.
'[Tarkowski] Know what he is doing, “said the Scot.
“He went straight through him and that could have been a legbreaker. That is a straight red all day.
“It's the referee's first derby, maybe he is a bit nervous. But he should have been taken to the monitor. '
Tarkowski later seemed to apologize at Mac Allister shortly after full -time at Anfield, after the defender could be seen deep in conversation with his counterpart.
