Reece James scored a really brilliant free kick against Latvia, but you would not know about his party, or the lack of it.
The impasse still had to be broken in the World Cup qualifying match at Wembley when the Three Lions won a set piece chance at 25 meters from the goal.
The James van Chelsea stepped up and curled the ball over the wall and in the upper right corner, leaving the keeper behind without a chance.
It was a goal that even the world's biggest players would have been proud to score, but James didn't look when he was harassed by his teammates.
The 25-year-old did not even go a smile as he walked down with his head, even though he had been scored on his country for the first time in front of his country
And viewers went to social media to present ideas why he reacted in such a way.
“What a goal of Reece James,” wrote one about X. “Not a party. Structure of frustration has probably given injuries and new reverse roles. Maybe just relief. '
Another one posted: 'Loving Reece James. Had a rough few years with injuries. Maybe he has held his emotions with that celebration. '
They wrote: 'I am not sure what the Reece James – celebration was about – I can't remember someone ever said he was bad, only that he is never fit. If he is fit, he is great. '
Others were less serious in their statements with a joke that it was because he used to play for Latvia. '
Another joked that “Reece James was so good that he even stunned himself and forgot to celebrate” while a colleague X user said “he did not celebrate in case he got injured.”
James was selected to start on Monday evening after he was used against the bank against Albania on Friday.
Morgan Rogers got his first start for his country after three previous replacement performances when Thomas Tuchel made four changes on the side that Albania beat 2-0 in Friday.
Marc Guehi and Jarrod Bowen were the other men who came in the side, looking at other options.
Marcus Rashford retained his place, even though Tuchel said he was not 'impactful' against Albania.
Myles Lewis-Skelly also retained his place on the left after his record-breaking debut on Friday.
The victory for England in their very first meeting with Latvia would bring them well on their way to the world cup qualification in Group K.
