Fede Valverde ready to answer Real Madrid’s right back call at Liverpool
Real Madrid have been given a major boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League trip to Liverpool.
The defending champions head to Merseyside to take on the Premier League leaders at Anfield on November 27.
Los Blancos returned to La Liga action this weekend with a dominant 3-0 win away at Leganes, while the focus now shifts to Liverpool.
Carlo Ancelotti gave a cryptic update in his post-match press conference, claiming that a fitness call is yet to be made on injured duo Lucas Vazquez and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Fede Valverde took over the captaincy at Leganes and covered the right back excellently in the absence of Vazquez.
The Uruguayan once again showed his quality and versatility and is ready to come on when needed for Liverpool.
“During Covid-19, I played on the wing against Liverpool and I was nervous. I think it will be more difficult this time, but I am prepared,” he said at full-time.
Valverde's confidence was also backed by Ancelotti, who insisted he had no problem keeping him in a cover role in such an important match.
“Valverde is a fantastic full-back. I think he is the best full-back in the world after Carvajal and Lucas. His problem is that he can play like that in many positions and my problem is choosing the best one for the team.”
