Rio Ferdinand has focused on three players of Manchester United who did not stop the sizzling goal of Anthony Elanga on Tuesday evening.
Elanga ran most of the length of the field with the ball before he shot low and loudly past Andre Onana to give Nottingham Forest a 1-0 win against his former side.
The victory brings Champions League football a step closer to reality, with Forest now 10 points free from the sixth placed Newcastle. The Premier League has almost at least five clubs in the Champions League next season and could have a maximum of seven.
The fans of United sang noisy for Ruben Amorim on the city, but they remain 13th in the Premier League, seven points of the upper half.
And Ferdinand could not believe that Elanga, who refused to celebrate his former side, ran 85 meters in nine seconds without a credible challenge.
“There are three moments when they could have stopped the goal,” he told TNT Sports.
'First of all, it is a wonderful goal from Elanga and you can't take it from him.
'If you look at the defensive point of view, (Patrick) Dorgu must be goals, you first have to think defensively, you know that the threat is pace, so in a better position to stop.
'(Alejandro) Garnacho should take it out, pollute it. (Noussair) Mazraoui has to deal with the attacking player. '
Elanga's counterattacks came from a corner and he burst out of the freedom of Dorgu when the ball left, so by the time it landed, he already had a few steps on the signing of £ 29.4 million.
The winger continued to sprint, and when he became parallel to the edge of the CentrumCirlce in half of United, Garnacho had the chance to challenge him, but fell when he was taken away.
In the time between Garnacho his challenge and falls, Elanga soon advanced dangerously.
With Elanga at about 30 meters from the goal, Mazraoui was the last man, but his body was turned to the goal and he was backwards.
Mazraoui continued to withdraw, so Elanga had a normal route in the box and stored the space before he hit Onana with his left foot.
All this happened with Breakneck speed and as such the standard for response times and the required decision -making was high, but United did not succeed in achieving that brand.
Elanga has been one of the most important players of Forest, with six goals and nine assists to help their surprise Champions League push under Nuno Espirito Santo.
He came through the youth of United before moving to the forest for £ 15 million in the summer of 2023.
Speaking with TNT Sports about his goal, he said: 'It is about falling into space and getting to the edge of the box as quickly as possible, there you can harm the opposition.
'I saw the space and I back that I can show it on the field. It's not that poor!
'The finish was something I worked on. You can run quickly, but you have to stay calm. '
