Fernandes rues lack of cutting edge in ‘frustrating’ West Ham defeat

Bruno Fernandes admitted that the representation of Manchester United in their 2-0 defeat against West Ham United “was not enough” as their Premier League-Ellende continued.

Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen hit on both sides of the peace to earn their first competition wins at Old Trafford since 2006-07.

West Ham also only completed their fifth double top doubles over the Red Devils, after he had previously done this in 1926-27, 1928-29, 1976-77 and 2006-07.

It was again a frustrating game for United, which gained a total of 2.28 of their 20 shots a total of 2.28, but could not beat the Alphonse Areola.

The result leaves United in the 16th place, with this their ninth home Premier League defeat of the season, their joint losses ever home losses in a single competition campaign.

They are Winless in seven top competitions (D2 L5), their joint-longest ever in the competition, also seven without victory from September to November 1992.

And Fernandes, who himself missed two chances in the game, said his team had an advanced lead in the last third part on Sunday.

“We have created many opportunities, but this is not enough. We have to put our opportunities into goals,” said Manchester United Captain.

“Today was a frustrating day because we couldn't do that.

“We must be stronger and more enthusiastic to score goals and put balls in the box. If you make the opportunities, you have to try to bury them.”

This season, Fernandes recognized the struggles of his party for the goal, where United had only managed 42 goals in the Premier League.

Only Everton (39), Ipswich Town (35), Leicester City (31) and Southampton (25) have scored less than the total of United (West Ham are his level at 42).

“It's hard to explain. Everyone wants to score goals. It has not been our season to get the goals,” Fernandes added.

“We have to improve that. We have to be much better. And we have to be more aggressive.”

Fernandes also discussed the upcoming Europa League final of United, where they will be confronted with Tottenham Hotspur in Bilbao on 21 May.

The 30-year-old insisted that although their Premier League season is one to forget, his teammates cannot focus any focus on their showpiece match against Spurs.

“We had two games, we still have another game. We can't only concentrate on the Europa League final. We have to make maximum efforts in every game,” he said.

“All points in the Premier League at the moment for us will be huge.”
