Former UFC champion and opponent of Conor McGregor set to make controversial BKFC return

With BKFC becoming one of the fastest growing combat sports organizations in the world since Conor McGregor's involvement, bigger names have joined the promotion.

Since UFC star Conor McGregor became co-owner of BKFC earlier this year, the promotion has experienced rapid growth and become one of the major players in the combat sports world.

With that, the promotion has started to sign some well-known faces from the mixed martial arts world, with 'Platinum' Mike Perry becoming one of the faces of BKFC since leaving the UFC.

Eddie Alvarez wants BKFC to return against Jeremy Stephens

Former UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez returns for another fight under the BKFC banner. 'The Underground King' has a well-documented history with his new boss, McGregor, with 'The Notorious' KOing him in 2016 to become a double champion.

The 40-year-old made his BKFC debut last April, picking up a split-decision victory over fellow former UFC star Chad Mendes.

Alvarez went on to fight the aforementioned Perry, where he suffered a brutal loss in the second round, leaving fans hoping he wouldn't fight without gloves again.

Despite this, the promotion announced earlier this Tuesday that 'The Underground King' will return to take on former UFC featherweight Jeremy Stephens when the promotion makes its first appearance in Philadelphia for Knucklemania on January 25.

“Philly will be hosting Knucklemania this year! The first fight to be stopped is Philly fighting legend Eddie Alvarez vs. Jeremy Stephens,” the promotion announced on X.

Alvarez is widely regarded as one of the most exciting lightweight fighters the UFC has ever seen, having been involved in a number of historic fights against the likes of Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier and Donald Cerrone.

After winning gold himself in the UFC, the 40-year-old recently gave his opinion on who he thinks is the greatest lightweight fighter of all time.

“My new lightweight GOAT is Jim Miller. I am willing to discuss with anyone,” Alvarez said on Twitter.

Jim Miller extended the UFC record last weekend at UFC 309, making his 45th UFC appearance and earning his 27th win under the banner.
