FFF reject PSG appeal over €55m Kylian Mbappe payment
Kylian Mbappé is expected to remain linked to the former Paris Saint-Germain until 2025.
Mbappe finally completed his long-awaited move to Real Madrid ahead of the 2024/25 season after opting for a contract extension in Paris.
Despite leaving Paris as free agents – with Real Madrid not paying a transfer fee – PSG and Mbappe have been embroiled in a €55 million legal battle in recent months.
The Professional Football League (LFP) and the French Football Federation (FFF) had previously issued a decision requiring PSG to pay Mbappe that amount for unpaid wages and bonuses.
PSG took a strong position on the issue and informed all parties that they would not make the payment before the end of October deadline, citing disagreements over the interpretation of the contract according to Marca.
PSG had ten days (from October 25) to submit a request for review to the FFF executive committee. However, the request came a day too late, causing the FFF to reject it.
The club are now obliged to pay the €55 million to Mbappe or take the matter to court, which seems the most likely route, as they look to take a stand against their former striker and his advisors.
