Victor Lindelof looks at the exit in Manchester United after Ruben Amorim has promised a “ruthless” summer space according to reports.
Sweden Center Back Lindelof, 30 is struggling this season minutes and fought against a series of injuries. He still has to make a Premier League start in this campaign, but came from the bank in the FA Cup defeat on Sunday against Fulham in Old Trafford.
And Portuguese Outlet Record says he likes to return to the former Benfica club when his contract ends in the summer. United has no plans to offer Lindelof an extension.
He arrived from the Lisbon Giants in a deal of € 35 million in the summer of 2017 and made 270 performances for the club, which scored four goals. But his impact is negligible in the past one and a half season because of Lies, Teen and Hamstring injuries.
In the meantime, Amorim has said that he will be ruthless when it comes to deciding what his team will look like next season.
After having had a 10th defeat in 24 games since Erik ten Hag replaced as head coach in November, the former sporting Lisbon boss said that it will not be “a difficult situation” when it comes to deciding who will stay and will be expected to be a summer of unrest in the club.
“Everyone understands that you sometimes stay in football, sometimes you have to continue,” said Amorim. “If I know how to explain it, I will do this because I like to be clear.
“I was a player and I like to use that experience – if you are honest with someone, they can take it.
“In the beginning it may be difficult, but they will understand. I am honest with my players and sometimes they know that they have to continue at the end of the season.
“We can finally talk about that – now there are still many games to play. But that is clear and not a difficult situation. “
