First UFC ‘superfight’ saw two legends set incredible record that will never be broken

Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock established a record that will never be defeated 30 years ago.

The bitter rivals met each other for the first time at UFC 1 in 1993. Royce Gracie, who is perhaps the best BJJ-Krappler of all time, scored a 57 secondary choke victory on Ken Shamrock during his legendary One-Night, three-Fight Run.

Two years later, Gracie had a 10-0 record after the emerging victor of UFC 2 and UFC 4.

In the meantime, Shamrock had compiled an amazing 15-Fight Run, including 13 wins, to earn a rematch.

Royce Gracie's 36 -minute Rematch with Ken Shamrock

UFC 5 was head of Gracie vs Shamrock 2 and it was invoiced as the first 'Superfight' of the promotion.

Fans turned out to be in record numbers for the pay-per-view, but the main event could not be delivered.

Shamrock used his wrestling to destroy the submission skills of Gracie during a 36 -minute snoozestest.

Eventually the fight was declared as a draw, because neither hunter was able to find a finish within the time limit.

A new record for the longest UFC battle of all time was determined by Gracie and Shamrock, who will hold that honor forever because MMA's Premier League does not plant more than 25 minutes.

Five years later, Gracie fought for 90 minutes against Kazushi Sakuraba to establish the longest Fight MMA record of all time on the Finals of Pride Grand Prix 2000.

Royce Gracie vs Ken Shamrock III

In 2016, Gracie returned from a nine -year retirement to arrange his rivalry with Shamrock, which he eliminated after an alleged 'low blow' in the main event of Bellator 149.

'The most dangerous man in the world' submitted an official complaint after his second loss for Gracie.

“I am very happy, that was my first knockout,” Gracie said about his controversial victory over Shamrock.

“But, I told you, we come from an era in which there was no time limit, no weight distribution, no gloves, no rules, grass shots were allowed. But it didn't make his groin.”

Almost ten years later, the result of Gracie vs Shamrock III is, to the great annoyance of the Americans.

Unfortunately, a shot on revenge is unlikely, because both hunters walked immediately after their trilogy from MMA and since then did not return to the cage.
