Hansi Flick greeted Barcelona's efforts when they ended their four-match Winless Streak in Laliga with a 7-1 hammering from Valencia.
Frenkie de Jong, Ferran Torres, Raphinha and Fermin Lopez all scored in the first half, the last twice hit the back of the net to keep Barcelona in control before Robert Lewandowski and his own goal from Cesar Tarrega ended.
Barcelona scored four goals before the 24th minute of a Laliga match (De Jong 3 ', Torres 8', Raphinha 14 'and Fermin 24') for the first time since October 2008 against Almeria, also at home. It was also the first time that they gave a lead of five goals against Getafe at home in Laliga since April 2015.
Flick was happy with how his side bounced back after their recent run and emphasized the importance of his team depth.
“The players showed new legs. They were in the game and did it great. I liked the performance of my team,” Flick said a news conference.
“It is no problem for me to have so many quality players to choose from. It's good.
“Everyone was impeccable and very dedicated during the game.”
After 14 goals and five assists in 67 games, Fermin scored and assisted for the first time in a single match for Barcelona in all competitions.
He is only the second Barcelona player who is involved in three goals before the break (two goals and one assist) in a match this season, after the hat trick by Robert Lewandowski in 32 minutes last October in Deportivo Alaves.
Flick greeted Fermin, whose brace and two assists were the key to the victory and said: “He played a fantastic game, he was very good on the ball and he ended very well.”
The German also praised Wojciech Szczesny after the Polish goalkeeper again preferred Inaki Pena after they also started their amazing 5-4 victory at Benfica who booked their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
Szczesny played his first LaLiga match as a starter, his fifth in all matches for Barcelona. With this victory, De Paal is the goalkeeper in the top 5 European competitions with the most starting matches with a 100% winning record (five).
“It is a difficult situation for Inaki Pena,” Flick admitted. “We always compare what Inaki or Szczesny brings on the table. It's not a debate, they are both good. It is a feeling … And we have to make a decision. I think it was good for him to play.”
Barcelona is then confronted with Atalanta in the last match of the competition phase of the Champions League on Wednesday, with their automatic qualification place already sealed and Alaves in LaLiga on Sunday.
