Barcelona has made the full-back position one of their priorities for the summer transfer market, and it seems that the director of Football Deco is starting to get his ducks in a row with regard to possible movements. A new favorite for that position has emerged.
The Blaugrana are mainly linked to three right backs in the past year; As Vanderson of Monaco, Almeria's Marc Pubill and Rayo Vallecano's Andrei Ratiu. However, Sport reports that Deco is the most enthusiastic about the Brazilian, which he has been following at Gremio since the time of the player. The 23-year-old has a mix of physical skills, technical and offensive bravery and understanding of the game, making him the favorite option of Deco.
The same outlet explains that manager Hansi Flick has given the green light to a deal for Vanderson, whom he also sees to play an important role for the club he would do with. The fact that he can also occasionally work as a left back is also important. Deco reportedly opened conversations with its agents, and the first steps have been 'very positive', although figures for a transfer or wages were not discussed. The Blaugrana is still not aware of how much money they will have to spend in the summer and will therefore not make a formal movement until the summer arrives.
On the other hand, MD says that Vandersonon in the first place is a potential long-term replacement for Jules Kounde, instead of a backup. The Blaugrana have opened conversations about a new deal with the Frenchman (from contract in 2027), but they say that if Kounde agrees with a renewal, Barcelona goes to a cheaper option than Vandersonon. If he does not, then a movement for the Brazilian is on the cards, while Flamengo's Wesley, at the age of 21 and with a reported price tag of € 35 million, would be a different target in that way of thinking.
When Kounde signs a new deal, MD believes that Barcelona is looking for a cheaper option to fill in the right back or left behind the France International and Alejandro Bald. Pubill, Ratiu and Oscar Mingueza are options on their shortlist that belong to this second plan.
Recent reports have stated that in principle Kounde has already reached an agreement with Barcelona about a new deal. Since Barcelona is strongly connected to a large moving movement for a left wing player, namely Luis Diaz from Liverpool, their budget for the jurisdiction is probably limited if they can do so. In recent years, Vandersonon has also been associated with a number of Premier League parties and was linked to Barcelona before Deco took on his role.
