Barcelona manager Hansi Flick was visibly pleased with his side's victory over Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening, with a 3-2 victory that put them second in the Champions League. His neighbors will also be happy, he revealed after the match.
Not because Flick is no longer there – the German manager and Barcelona spent both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in Dortmund – but because he has kept his promise. After the match, Flick
“I think the presence of so many fans here is fantastic. On Monday I had dinner in Barcelona and met a neighbor in a restaurant. He told me he was coming with his three children, and he asked me to win. He also told me he was sitting on a Liverpool defeat,” Flick explained to Relevo.
The main problem for Flick is transferring their European form to domestic action. The Blaugrana have the opposite problem to what they have faced in recent years, with just one win in their last five Liga matches.
“This victory should give us confidence. We have a very young team and play every 3 or 4 days. The great thing is to see how all the players behave, during training and matches. I hope to see this again on Sunday against Leganes.”
Barcelona will end the 2024 season with home games against Leganes and Atletico Madrid, six points of which will guarantee them a top position during the Christmas holidays. However, Los Rojiblancos are the form team in Spain, with their victory over Slovan Bratislava a tenth win in a row.
