Hansi Flick says that Barcelona's 5-0 victory over Valencia in the quarterfinals of Copa del Rey embodies the attacking game he wants to from his team.
Barca expanded their undefeated run to 10 games in all competitions after an early four-goal lead, led by a hat trick from Ferran Torres, who came in for Liga and Champions League top scorer Robert Lewandowski while Flick Players rested.
He scored the fastest hat trick for Barcelona in every competition (30 minutes) since Samuel Eto'o did it in October 2008 in Laliga against Almeria (28 ').
It is the second game in a row in the Copa del Rey that Barcelona has scored five goals, after he also scored four in their opening match of the competition this period against Barbastro.
“It's great and it's the style we want to play,” Flick told TVE.
“The hunger that this team must always go behind the next goal and then again and again is just remarkable.
“This is a young team who has learned how to play in harmony and with the rhythm we wanted and they are always focused on scoring goals.”
This season, Barcelona scored 109 goals in 35 games in all competitions, an average of more than three goals per match, and only one goal less than the 110 games they scored throughout the 2023-24 campaign.
The Blaugrana was eliminated in two of their previous four Copa del Rey quarterfinals prior to Thursday's victory, and better last season's result when they were eliminated in the last eight by Athletic Bilbao.
Barcelona came to Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad in the two -legged semi -final, with the draw that takes place on Wednesday.
“It was a great result that was very important to us, I am very happy with the way the team played,” said Flick.
“They were focused from the start, creating opportunities and being aggressive and it was good that we managed to score early, it helped us a lot.”
