Flick to keep Champions League favourites Barcelona grounded

Hansi Flick is determined to keep his Barcelona team grounded while they approach their Champions League quart final with Borussia Dortmund as tough favorites.

Barca has not lost a competition since the turn of the year and are still looking for a possible four -fold this season.

The Blaugrana Top Laliga for Real Madrid with eight games over and plays their arch rivals in this month's Copa del Rey final, after they have already defeated them to win the supercopa de Espana in January.

They are also considered the favorites of the opta -super computer to win the Champions League with a chance of 23.1%, while they get a 78.2% chance of eliminating Dortmund for the first stage of Wednesday at home.

“We can dream, but players and coaches have to keep our feet on the ground,” Flick told reporters on Tuesday.

“We have to look at what we have achieved, based on hard work, and it should not be the end. We have to get everything out of the closet to continue.

“We want to continue without losing this year, but we have to perform at our best against a very strong rival.”

Dortmund finished in second place last season to include 15-way European champions Madrid in the Champions League, but they struggled this campaign in their own country and are only eighth in the Bundesliga.

They suffered another blow this week when Germany Center-back Nico Schlotterbeck was excluded the rest of the season due to a serious knee injury.

“I prefer to play against the better team. I'm sorry about the loss of Nico and I wish him the best,” said Flick.

“Dortmund has many stylish players and they are for a reason in the quarters. The absent will have little influence on it.”

The former coach of Bayern Munich was asked about Brazil striker Raphinha, who was only a replacement in Barca's 1-1 LaLiga Home Draw with real betis on Saturday.

Raphinha, 28, has 27 goals and 20 assists in 44 performances in all competitions this season, but he is struggling with fatigue since the recent international break.

“We tried, after the international break, to get him back on his feet,” said Flick.

“What I saw in the session is the same as I saw before: he is very active, awake, dynamic … It shows that he is ready for tomorrow's game.”
