Florian Wirtz is abandoned Bayer Leverkusen for Liverpool and his exit seems to have been an emotional one, because the Bundesliga side led to the latest signing of Arne Slot
Bayer Leverkusen gave a short but emotional message after confirmation that Liverpool Florian Wirtz signed: “Take care of him.”
The Reds completed a deal that could rise to £ 116 million because the German international signed a five -year contract in Anfield. And it seems that the 22-year-old De Bundesliga left on good conditions after he had made his name at Leverkusen and made sure that she earned a considerable compensation for his transfer.
Wirtz arrived on the Bundesliga side as a 16-year-old who grew up in the Academy of Koln. The attacker quickly hit the land on the Bayara and scored 57 goals in 197 performances when he made his name as a goal scorer and playmaker.
And although the social media framework of Leverkusen was concise in his feelings, the former Leverkusen -midfielder and club managing director Simon Rolfes offered a longer tribute. The 43-year-old could not speak enough about the departing star.
“The departure of Florian is associated with many emotions for the entire club and also for me personally,” he said. “He came to us as a 16-year-old and over the years he built up close and warm relationships with many people in the club.
“Because of his attitude, his passion and his unconditional desire to win, he not only motivated and inspired his teammates on the field, but also the staff in the immediate vicinity of the team and the entire club.
“Florian has never played for himself, he has always set the success of the team first. On behalf of everyone I would like to say a sincere thanks. Florian Wirtz will always be part of Bayer 04.”
Despite his enthusiasm about joining Liverpool, Wirtz has admitted that his exit comes with mixed emotions. “It is not easy to leave after five and a half years,” he said.
“I have experienced unique things and incredible moments here at Leverkusen. The club always supported me and believed in me, even during the difficult time with my injury.
“I would thank you for that and for the great sympathy that is shown me by management, teammates and all staff on that day. And I would like to say to the fans of Bayer 04 who have received all those years behind me and the team: it was an honor for me to do my best. And I am already looking forward to a reunion on the field.”
But the new signing of Arne Slot is pleased to get the step over the line to take on a new challenge. Wirtz is hopeful that the Premier League will be perfect for his talents.
“I feel very happy and very proud,” Wirtz said after signing. “Finally it is ready and I was waiting for a long time – finally it is ready and I am really happy.
“I am really excited to have a new adventure in front of me. This was also a big point of my thoughts: that I want something completely new to go out of the Bundesliga and to become a member of the Premier League.
“I will see how I can perform there. I hope I can do my best. I also spoke with some players who played there and they told me it is perfect for me and that every throw is perfect, you can enjoy every game. I am really looking forward to playing my first game.”
