Floyd Mayweather’s protégé mocked by fans after missing weight by 14lbs: ‘One hell of a thanksgiving dinner’
Curmel Moton is dealing with setbacks for the first time in his career.
The 18-year-old boxer, who promotes ring legend Floyd Mayweather, has made the sport look easy by amassing a 6-0 record since turning pro on the Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo undercard in September 2023.
Curmel Moton, an exemplary amateur fighter with a record of 156-7, was set to continue his journey into the paid ranks against Bryan Mercado on Saturday night at the ACX1 Studios in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
However, their matchup was officially canceled after a ridiculous weight loss on Friday.

Floyd Mayweather's protégé in wild weight loss
Curmel Moton would gain 133 pounds 24 hours before his fight.
Floyd Mayweather's protégé came nowhere near the agreed weight on Friday.
Moton tipped the scales at 147.8 pounds, which was 14.8 pounds over the contracted weight limit.
The fighter looked carefree after publicly suffering one of the worst weight losses in boxing history. Moton paraded across the stage before posing for photos with event organizer Danny Garcia.
Naturally, the fight was called off shortly after Moton's weight loss.
It didn't take long before fans started mocking the teen on social media.
One said: “Damn brother had a great Thanksgiving dinner.”
Another said: “Yeeeeeez £15? Did he eat bricks?
A third person joked: “Bros toughest opponent was cookies.”
Someone else commented: “Homie ate the whole turkey by himself.”
Even Claressa Shields got involved in Moton's online hazing, tweeting: “lol @curmelmoton1 you said you weren't skipping Thanksgiving. 14 pounds overweight is a crazy young man”
Floyd Mayweather is cashing in after his retirement
Floyd Mayweather defeated UFC superstar Conor McGregor to improve his boxing record to 50-0 in 2017.
'Money' retired from boxing shortly afterwards, but he continues to fight in exhibition fights.
Logan Paul, Deji and John Gotti III are just some of the opponents he has faced since calling it a career.
The 47-year-old grandfather shows no signs of slowing down as he continues to make millions for low-risk fights against upstart boxers he can play with.
He currently has no opponent. But it seems like it's only a matter of time before he fights again.
Who would you like to see as Floyd Mayweather box?
