Footballer charged with string of sex offences including imprisoning & raping

A football player is accused of a series of sex offenses, including rape.

Harry Butters is said to be locked up and sexually abused the woman who is older than 16 years old in March older than 16 years old, who is older than 16 years old.

The 24-year-old appeared for a hearing at the Newton Aycliffe Magistrates court.

Butters is accused of two counts of sexual violence, one of rape and a count of false prison sentence.

All violations reportedly took place on 2 March in the Darlington area.

Butters, who plays for Darlington FC's Under 23s, was released next month on conditional bail to be released next month on Tesside Crown Court.

He is subject to an electronically monitored evening clock between 7 pm and 7 am.

Butters is suspended by the club awaiting the outcome of legal proceedings.

He has played 21 times this season – including in Darlington's 5-0 win over Crook Town Youth on March 1.

The team said in a statement: “The player is suspended until further notice.”
