Forest ace Jota Silva – who was dubbed ‘Aldi middle aisle Jack Grealish’
NOTTINGHAM FOREST winger Jota Silva hopes to go toe-to-toe with his Premier League double at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Since arriving at the City Ground, Silva has been labeled as an “Aldi Grealish in the center aisle”.
The player's Wikipedia page was even manipulated last month to show 'Grealish' as one of his middle names – although that has now been removed.
And Portugal team-mate Bernardo Silva joked that he would one day try to sneak the Forest wide man into City's training ground – to see if Pep Guardiola notices the difference.
He hopes to hold a meeting with the £100million England midfielder on Wednesday but says his loyalty lies firmly with Forest.
Silva told SunSport: “This has been going around for a while, I can't deny there are similarities.
“But we are different types of players, different styles.
“The hair and the low socks are the inspiration for the story.
“But Jack is a great player and it's an honor to be compared to him.”
He admitted that Bernardo's suggestion for a training ground took place during his international duty.
Silva added: “We joked about that when we were away with Portugal.
“But Forest is the club I'm at and the one I'm going to represent.
“Maybe I'll get a chance to speak to Jack at the City game.”
One fan took to social media earlier this season to highlight the similarities between the two players, writing: “When you buy Jack Grealish in the aisle of Aldi.”
It resulted in a hilarious response on the supermarket page that said: “That must be a smashing player!!”
Forest's revival under boss Nuno Espirito Santo has coincided with the biggest dip in Guardiola's reign at Man City.
Their defeat to Liverpool on Sunday means it is now seven games without a win for City – with Forest just a point behind in sixth place.
But Nuno says he is not fooled by City's approach, saying Guardiola is a revolutionary manager.
The Forest boss said: “Pep is one of the managers the rest of us are watching.
“He is one of the small group of managers who could influence the game – and that says a lot.
“Their run doesn't take away from the quality and talent they have.
“Let's not forget that they are the champions and they have won so much with such good players and such a good manager. When you have such good players and play such good football, they will definitely turn it around.”
Nuno says bad form is inevitable.
He added: “It's the reality of the game: you always have ups and downs.
“Every team must be ready to face those moments of uncertainty when things don't go well.
“It's about how long you stay there and how you bounce back from those moments.”
Nuno was also asked about the comparison between Jota and Grealish.
And he quickly explained why they shouldn't be lumped together, saying, “The similarity is clear. But Jota is different. There is no point in comparing the qualities of the players.
“We are very happy with him. This is what we want from our team.
“This is how we want to play, knowing that all the players coming in have an impact.”
