Forgotten Man United defender is a target for Cesc Fabregas at Serie A side Como

Manchester United left-back Tyrell Malacia has become a target for ambitious Italian side Como.

Coach Cesc Fabregas is putting together a competitive squad for Serie A and research has been done into the price for the Dutch international.

Malacia joined from Feyenoord for £13 million in 2022 but has struggled with form and fitness, making just 43 appearances in all competitions despite a promising start.

United are open to offers for all their players and coach Ruben Amorim has targeted the left full-back position as a priority to strengthen in the next transfer windows.

Although Luke Shaw will return to fitness at the end of this month, he could still play as a left-sided centre-back.

Paris St. Germain's Nuno Mendes was Amorim's ideal target for the position, a player he knows well from their days together at Sporting Lisbon, but that deal is looking increasingly unlikely during this period.

Mendes has refused to sign a new contract with PSG and wants to join United, but under PSR restrictions United are unlikely to match the French club's valuation in this window.

United have also closely tracked Milos Kerkez at Bournemouth and Lecce's Denmark international Patrick Dorgu.
