MyLes Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri might deserve praise
Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has said that the hard work is now starting for young stars Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly because fans now expect consistent major versions.
The graduates from the Academy have made large breakthroughs this season under Mikel Arteta, in which Lewis-Skell deserves praising reviews for his midweek performance in the beautiful Champions League victory on Real Madrid.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher was so exuberant in his praise after their 3-0 victory that he claimed that Lewis-Skelly has a 'football arrogance' comparable to Wayne Rooney.
But the image of Eboue is framed by personal experience that was in the club when Jack Wilshere was spoken as one of the best young players in the world.
“I really saw them well this year. The Arsenal Academy is doing great,” Eboue told Aceodds.com. “Ethan and Lewis-Skelly have to do the hard work. People will keep an eye on them to see if they can deliver consistent over time.
“When I was in Arsenal, I saw some brilliant young players such as Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. People said they would be the best in the world, but football changes quickly.
“I hope Ethan and Lewis-Skelly work very hard. I will pray for them, because I want them to be the best.”
Arsenal returns to Premier League promotion with a match at home on Brentford on Saturday evening and they will look to complete the track to Real on Wednesday evening.
Arteta said: “It is not about bringing the players back, it is about maintaining that energy and momentum. That game is over and now the full focus is on Brentford because it is a game that requires the best of us.
“We play every three days. We play in different matches, the biggest stages, play in Europe and then return to the Premier League.
“And having a completely different game, different opposition and context around the game. What we have to do is win our football matches, be better in our (competition) position and then wait (to see) what happens.”
