Former Arsenal star Miguel Azeez reveals why he felt ‘misjudged’ at the club

Former Arsenal -midfielder Miguel Azeez has admitted that he felt “incorrectly rated” with the Gunners during his time.

Azeez joined the London side for the first time at the age of five and spent the next 11 years climbing the Hale End Academy ranks.

He signed his first professional contract in 2019 and made his senior debut the following year in a Europa League match against Dundalk.

That turned out to be his only first team performance for Arsenal, because he was later broadcast on various loan spells to Portsmouth, Ibiza and Wigan respectively before he joined the Spanish side Atletico Balearicians last January.

Seven months later, Azeez continued, this time to Pas Giannina in Greece.

The midfielder has since made 13 performances and scored once.

In addition to football, Azeez likes to express himself through art, music and fashion.

But in a recent interview with the athletics, he revealed that he felt “wrongly rated” compared to his teammates.

The 22-year-old said: “I certainly felt, not adversity, but wrongly rated.

“Ask someone at Arsenal – I was always first in training and finally to leave.

“If I looked like a typical football player, they would not have thought of it, but because of how I looked, the hairstyles, the face, the jewelry, whatever it was, they would say:” He is trying to give up by to come in early to be alone '.

“That word 'distant' was used against me at Arsenal. My teammates were in the dressing room on their phone on Snapchat when I worked in the gym, but they would just see me alone and bring two and two together.

“The players seemed to take it, which was fun. It was from the coaching side of things.

“I don't know if it was a educational thing or a hierarchy. I considered it people who think:” Who does he think he is? He thinks he is better than me? “

“No, I'm just myself. I don't damage by wearing a few heels.

“There was always that this thing represented the badge. I understand that, but I think they wanted a different picture than what I gave.

“I think there are many people who would change their personalities to get where they thought they should be. I always said that I am a person who plays football.

“If people start thinking that they are a football player before they are a person, they start to change who they are.”

Reminded of the departure of his arsenal, he added: “I felt that I had to go. You would train with the 21s, would go to the first team and sit on the couch but didn't go on. I had to try my make your own path.

“I don't think anyone would like a player not to expand his contract, but it wasn't the best broadcast.

“Normally a player who left his shirt would have all players and employees signed. I didn't get that or a meeting who said goodbye.

“Not that I gave it because I don't need that to feel validated, but I am the longest serving player, it would have been nice to get something.”

Sunsport has approached Arsenal for comment.
