Former Barcelona player hospitalised in Greece after being bitten on his genitals while walking his dog

The Spanish footballer Carles Perez was admitted to the hospital in Thessaloniki after a painful dog bite on his genitals while walking his pet in a park.

The former wing player of Barcelona, now on loan on the Greek side Aris Thessaloniki of Celta Vigo, reportedly tried to break a fight between his own dog and another when the incident took place.

Local reports say that the 27-year-old six stitches needed after the injury and remains under medical observation.

The incident happened only a few days after Perez made his debut for Aris in a Europa Conference League qualifying match and played the full match against Araz-Nakhchivan.

He had joined the Greek outfit this summer in an attempt to do his career again after a frustrating spell with Celta.

Although the injury is not considered life -threatening, it is said that surgery is being considered and his return to action has been postponed for an indefinite period.

A product of the famous La Masia Academy of Barcelona, Perez made 13 senior performances for the Catalan giants before moving to AS Roma in 2020.

He later arrived permanently at Celta Vigo after a loan spell, but spent last season at Getafe, scored three goals in 30 performances in all competitions.

His move to Aris was seen as a new start after he had fallen out of grace in Vigo.

The Greek club has confirmed its hospitalization and said that further updates about his recovery will follow.

Perez, who played 18 times for Spain at youth level, is now recovering at home.
