Last week, Conor McGregor sent the global combat sports community into a frenzy when he claimed 'preliminary agreements' had been made for a boxing match against Logan Paul.
But between his current UFC contract, which reportedly includes two more fights in addition to his stake in the Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship, there will likely be several roadblocks that keep that fight from getting signed.

Former rival believes the UFC won't make it an 'easy exit' for Conor McGregor
Despite still being contracted to the UFC, Conor McGregor has claimed he is currently in negotiations to fight Logan Paul in the boxing ring in 2025.
“I have entered into tentative agreements with the Ambani family to meet Logan Paul at a boxing exhibition in India, which I have agreed to,” McGregor wrote on X earlier this month, teasing “I will then seek my return to the Octagon” after had received what was about to happen. being a career-high wallet.
“#BiggestGenerator #KingofNumbers #Streams #PPV I own every record and I'm coming back to take this new kid out and get more numbers for the company. #StockMarketIndia #MyHighestPayPacketYet #Thanksforthecheese,”
While there is certainly no shortage of skepticism as to whether this claim is actually legitimate, former UFC champion Eddie Alvarez believes there is simply no way the UFC would let McGregor ply his trade elsewhere.
“Realistically, I think he has two fights left in his UFC contract and I know how difficult that is [to get out of a signed contract] – especially if you are really that valuable to a company.
“I haven't been as valuable as Conor, but when I was Bellator's main man, I know how hard it is to get out of those contracts [and] They don't make it easy.”
Simply put, the popular veteran doesn't believe the UFC would give McGregor the opportunity to fight elsewhere (or at least fight in another sport) as time is already of the essence.
“And for him, who is making a company hundreds of millions of dollars, I don't think it will be an easy exit… I think he has two more fights in the UFC, and I don't know how old Conor is. is, but he's not getting any younger.
“It will be difficult for him to take those fights and then move on to another contract.”
Alvarez famously lost his UFC lightweight title to McGregor at UFC 205 in November 2016. 'The Underground King' then competed for ONE Championship before signing with BKFC in 2023.
Regarding a possible fight under the Bre-Knuckle banner, of which McGregor is a co-owner, Alvarez argued that such a move would likely be a permanent farewell: “Realistically, I don't think he fights BKFC and if he does does, it will be when he is older.
Conor McGregor threatens to cancel the multi-million dollar deal with DAZN
As well as fueling speculation about a possible boxing match against Logan Paul, McGregor has also been in the news after threatening to cancel BKFC's multi-million dollar deal with DAZN.
While Notorious was watching the BKFC Hollywood on December 21, the Irishman was furious because the broadcast was so quick that none of the winners were given post-fight interviews.
“DAZN, I'M NOT GIVING UP***,” McGregor tweeted. “If you don't get our winners on the mic, we're done!”
McGregor was supported in the dispute by former UFC fighter Brendan Schaub, who stated that “there is something to be said” regarding the time required for post-fight interviews versus the pace of broadcasts.
“Maybe it's a matter of time constraints during the broadcast… It's like, 'We just can't do that, dude. They gave us this short time'. So we interview the winner and have fewer fights, but something has to be done here.
