Former England star Paul Ince is arrested and charged with drink driving

Paul Ince is accused of driving under the influence.

The 57-year-old former captain of England was arrested after a Black Range Rover was hit against a central reserve in Cheshire on Saturday.

He was then accused of driving under the influence, bail and will appear before Chester Magistrates.

A spokesperson for the Cheshire police said: 'Around 5 pm on Saturday 28 June, the police were called after reports of a collision at Chester High Road, Neston.

'The incident included a black Range Rover that had collided with the central reservation barrier.

'Officers attended the scene and arrested a 57-year-old man.

'Paul Ince, Van Neston, has since been accused of driving under the influence. Ince was saved to appear at the Hof van Chester Magistrates on Friday, July 18. '

The incident took place near Heswall Golf Club, from where Ince has previously posted content on Instagram.

Ince, a former star of Manchester United, Liverpool and West Ham, was the first black man of Captain England. He won 53 caps for his country and is perhaps best remembered because of his leading role in a Douned Gallesess Draw with Italy who sent the side of Glenn Hoddle to the World Cup 1998.

Ince came through the ranks at the Hammers before relocating the money to United in 1989. After having spent six, with trophy-loading for years in Old Trafford, he was transferred to Inter Milan before returning to England to play for United's Rivals, Liverpool.

Further Stints at Middlesbrough and Wolves followed the curtain on a gaming career before Ince followed the curtain, so he won two leading competitions, two FA Cups and a competition cup, including silverware.

After successful spells that were in charge of Macclesfield and MK Dons, he continued to manager clubs, including Blackburn Rovers, Notts County and Blackpool.

His last role was as manager of Reading, a message that he left in 2023.
