After months of speculation, Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold closes a free transfer to Real Madrid about his future.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was defended by Stephen Warnock after a return on social media in the aftermath of reports that claim that the Liverpool star has decided to join Real Madrid when his contract ends at the end of the season.
The Reds-Rechtsback, 26, has been praised by Real Madrid for months and has been free since January to speak with clubs from abroad after entering the last six months of his deal. It now seems that an agreement is almost being completed.
Although it has been explained that Alexander-Arnold wants to make the move, Liverpool has not been informed of a deal.
They like to keep their own home -grown star, which has been at the club since the age of six. But all the indications are that this will be a struggle with Los Blancos that is now approaching at their top goal of the summer.
Fans went to social media in their torn to respond to the news. But Warnock has been abandoned by some of the “failed” comments against Alexander-Arnold.
“I cannot believe that the negativity focused on Trent Alexander-Arnold and his potential move away from LFC. I have seen comments as 'he should be ashamed' and he is 'not loyal to the club' being misled,” Warnock wrote in a message about X.
“He has the right to make his own choices and to challenge himself in another competition and another country. He won everything with LFC, an incredible servant of the club and should receive a great broadcast by the fans.”

With Alexander-Arnold who comes closer to an exit, all eyes will now be on Liverpool and their attempts to hold Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, who also have no contract at the end of the season.
Both players have expressed the wish to extend their stay in Anfield outside the current campaign. As with Alexander-Arnold, however, no agreement has yet been concluded after months of negotiations.
Arne Slot has been consistent with his answer to questions about the future of the trio this season: he wants them all to stay. The Dutchman's side is the next in action per week on Wednesday when they organize Everton in the Merseyside Derby. They are currently 12 points free from Arsenal at the Premier League top with nine more games left.
