Everton has added former Liverpool and Stoke City -midfielder Charlie Adam to the back room staff of David Moyes.
The 39-year-old has been appointed as the new set piece coach of the Toffees, while Alan Irvine is reunited with the former Manchester United boss for his third Stint as assistant manager of Moyes.
The arrival of Adam in Goodison Park only comes a month after his short enchantment from League Two Side Fleetwood Town. The former Scotland -International won only 14 of his 49 games and saw his first trip to managed ended on December 22.
The former midfielder attracted the attention of Premier League fans during the striking 2010-11 campaign of Blackpool. Adam led the side, managed by Ian Holloway, who was painfully close to avoiding the decrease in their lonely season in the top flight.
Adam was praised for his bad set documents and was picked up by Liverpool in 2011 after the relegation of Blackpool to the championship.
However, he only made 37 performances for the Anfield Club before he was sold to Stoke City, where he would enjoy more success in the Premier League.
Adam made 179 performances for the potters in seven seasons and stayed at the club when they were banned to the second layer in 2018.
Further spells with reading and Dundee followed before he called time on his career in 2022.
The 26-time Scotland International joins an Everton side that is currently in 16th place, only seven points above the drop zone.
After the announcement of his arrival earlier this week, Moyes said he expects the former midfielder to bring quality to his coaching team.
“Charlie is someone with whom I have had different chats since I came to the club,” said Moyes in a club statement. “He will help with set-piece situations, an area in which he excelled as a player and one of me, I believe he can really help us now as a coach.”
Adam will be in the dugout when the Toffees welcomes his former side Liverpool in Goodison Park for the last time next month.
