Former Liverpool star set to have Wrexham medical on Monday

Wales International -goalkeeper Danny Ward has a medical medical in Wrexham on Monday prior to a return to his hometown club.

Ward, 32, started as an intern on the racecourse ground before he played for Liverpool, Aberdeen and Leicester, where he spent seven years until his contract ended this summer.

The 'keeper has won 44 international caps and his signing is a sign of the ambitions of Wrexham after promotion to the championship.

Ward will be the second choice keeper of Wrexham behind Arthur Okonkwo.

He has experience playing in the Premier League and also played prominently in the championship during a loan spell at Huddersfield in the 2016-17 season.

Doelmen Callum Burton and Luke McNicholas are also part of the Wrexham team.

Liverpool -defender Owen Beck is a loan objective for Wrexham this summer.

Beck, who was impressed during a loan period at Blackburn Rovers last season, is the second cousin of Liverpool legend Ian Rush.

Wrexham will get their championship campaign going with an away game against Southampton on August 9.
