A former Manchester United star is apparently engaged in a gap with his current team about unpaid bonuses – but insists that he still wants to stay in the club.
The player was absent in the training on Wednesday, which understandably led speculation about his future with his Brazilian club, before he returned the next day for Clear The Air Talks.
In those discussions, the former Premier League attacker – who is one of the most important players at Corinthians – has made it clear that, despite the disagreement, he still wants to stay in the outfit -based outfit.
The club announced in an official statement: 'Corinthians informs that athlete Memphis Depay on Thursday morning to CT Joaquim Grava reported, where he met the acting president of Corinthians, Osmar Stabile, football director Fabinho Soldado and coach Dorival Júnior.
“During the meeting, the athlete justified his absence and expressed his desire to stay with Corinthians. After taking the necessary measures, the presidency deals with the matter as resolved. '
Brazilian outlet Ge states that Depay will be fined for his behavior, that training has skipped without being apologized for his duties.
It is unclear what justification Depay has put forward for his absence of Wednesday's training session.
But with the club that wants to hold their star player, part of the outstanding amount that owes him is paid to show good faith, the report continues.
According to GE, however, the club still owes the Dutch international about £ 626,510 (R $ 4.7 million).
It adds that the club had been a day late this week in paying players and staff, with the company that manages Depay security, also receives their payment too late.
Since he came to Corinthians, Depay has managed an impressive 13 goals and 14 assists in 42 trips, after a free transfer by Atletico Madrid in 2024.
He is also a goal from the outright top scorer for the Netherlands in their history, connected to Robin van Persie at 50, after he had played exactly the same number of games (102).
In May, however, he was in the middle of a massive fight on a mass after a number of show boating had gone wrong.
Corinthians played host of Palmeiras in the second stage of the final of the Campeonato Paulista, the highest level of competition football in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.
After a 1-0 win in the first stage, Corinthians simply had to keep the game in the final phase to secure their record-expanding 31st title, and their first since 2019.
While the clock ran down, Depay received the ball in the corner of a short free kick.
Apparently not satisfied with simply shielding the ball from an on-Rushing defender, the Dutch international stood on it with both feet in a brutal representation of show boating.
The move only had to make the opposition players furious, with two Palmeiras stars who came in to challenge Depay, overthrow him in the trial and a massive fight had broken out within a few seconds.
There was a lot of pushing and pushing between players and replacements for both teams, where Depay was seen who staggered between the Melee. The fight went on for a few minutes and added to what a poorly suspended and dramatic collision was between the two arch rivals.
Corinthians Defender Felix Torres had already been sent away for two yellow cards, while Palmeiras coach Abel Ferreira was also fired, shortly before Raphael Veiga missed a punishment to deliver the draw in his side.
The fight only continued the drama, in which the officials responded quickly by sending the midfielder Jose Martinez and veteran Palmeiras -goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba for their involvement in the subsequent Melee.
This was despite the fact that neither Martinez or Lomba were on the field at the time of the incident. When the order was eventually restored, Corinthians gave their total lead in the last seconds to claim the title.
