A former Premier League and Scottish International was brought to the hospital on Thursday evening after collapsing on the field just a few minutes before the start in a two competition competition.
The collision between Chesterfield and Doncaster was delayed for 10 minutes when John Fleck was treated before he was removed on a stretcher and was then brought to the hospital.
“We can confirm that John Fleck was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure after he was taken sick before the game during the warm-up,” his club Chesterfield wrote on X.
After the game, Assistant manager Danny Webb suggested that Fleck had a 'fit', but reassured fans by saying that the 33-year-old was in a good mood when he was removed from the field.
“He had a kind of kind,” Webb told the Derbyshire Times.
“The last we saw from him, he sat on a stretcher, consciously, speaking and with a smile on his face. We will know more tomorrow. He is in good hands. Fingers crossed seems to be good.
'There was a period with John on the floor in the warming and football comes out of you. Our dressing room was a very quiet place for the kick -off. We as staff tried to lift the boys and let them know that John seemed to be in order when he left. They were flat because he is a teammate and they care about him. They went outside and received the three points for John. '
Chesterfield defeated the second placed Doncaster Rovers 5-2 in SMH Stadium while Fleck's place was taken at the team schedule by Michael Jacobs.
This is not the first time that Fleck had a fear of health during play.
In 2021 when he collapsed in Sheffield United, he collapsed during the championship luminaire on his side with reading and received 10 minutes of urgent medical treatment on the field in the Madejski Stadium before being transported to the hospital.
Fleck played two seasons in the top flight for Sheffield United and has won five caps for Scotland.
