Former Spain No.1 calls out Marc-Andre ter Stegen over Barcelona stand off

Barcelona vs. Marc-Andre ter Stegen has the potential to derail the start of Hansi Flick until the 2025/26 season in Catalonia.

A flexible summer has hit a large roadblock in recent weeks with Ter Stegen ready to keep his nerve in the midst of rising pressure from the club.

The decision of Barcelona to bring in Joan Garcia from Espanyol in June created friction and underlined Flick's plan to replace his colleague Urban International with his no. 1 place effectively removed.

Barcelona, however, needs a change in attitude by Ter Stegen to register Garcia as a La Liga player, and to ratify the expansion of Wojciech Szczesny at the club.

Ter Stegen initially stated that he would only be out for three months, so that Barcelona could not activate the rule of La Liga about the use of the salary space of injured players' to register new stars.

The goalkeeper has also rejected permission for his medical report that is sent to La Liga, where Barcelona claims that his absence will be four to five months.

On the back of it, Barcelona has now opened the disciplinary procedure against the former Borussia Monchengladbach Stopper and decided him from the Club capincy.

Rumor has it that Ter Stegen is not after the last update, and he wants to stay in place in Barcelona for the 2025/26 season, but the situation has caused a play.

Former Real Madrid and Spain -star Santiago Canizares has called on Ter Stegen's attitude while the Saga is rolling.

“A captain represents the players in a match and at the negotiating table when it comes to bonuses or a dispute. He can't be lazy, create a bad atmosphere or be selfish,” according to Cadena Cope via Mundo Deportivo.

“He must be an example. He must encourage everyone to bind and perform well, to be a team player, to have a good atmosphere and try to resolve conflicts.

“But if you create a conflict. If you have an open war with the club, it makes no sense for that player to be a captain. The captain would now be there to resolve Ter Stegen's conflict.”
