Former UFC heavyweight champion claims the UFC were ‘afraid’ to match him with Brock Lesnar after making contract pitch

When Brock Lesnar arrived in the UFC for the first time, he immediately became one of the top stars of the promotion.

After a rocky start of his MMA career, Lesnar would become the heavyweight champion while his stock continued to rise.

He had already achieved a star status in the WWE by the time he first walked to the Octagon in 2008, and he was compensated for that.

While Lesnar briefly returned to save UFC 200, his run ended with the promotion in 2011 after one of the most important careers in the history of sport.

The former champion paid a lot of attention to the UFC and with that jealous of his heavyweight rivals.

Tim Sylvia says he wanted to fight with Brock Lesnar for his UFC contract, but the promotion was not interested

In 2007 the heavyweight title of Tim Sylvia came to an end after he was dethroned by Randy Couture on UFC 68 after back-to-back defenses.

His last UFC fight took place at UFC 81 in 2008, where he lost an interim title fight on the same night to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Brock Lesnar was submitted by Frank Mir during his UFC debut.

Sylvia recently spoke on the Jaxxon Podcast that after discovering what Lesnar did for his fighting, the matchmakers spoke about matching them.

“When I was the heavyweight champion, we found out what they brought Brock Lesnar [for]”Sylvia said. He got it [$300,000 to show and $300,000 to win] And buy money per pay-per-view, so every fight that he then earned more than a million dollars. My contract was 100 and 100, so $ 200,000 over the victory, I may have made 40 or 50 sponsors. Brock gets a million and he is no one. “

Sylvia said he questioned the UFC why Lesnar was paid considerably more than he and threw an offer to the promotion.

He wanted to face the former WWE star in a fight where, if he won, he would get Lesnar's contract, but the UFC was not sold on the idea because they hoped that their big signature could bounce back and achieve success.

'' How the F – is he a larger name? 'Because of the wrestling.

“No, we try to build it up, we can't do that”, “” Sylvia claims that the UFC replied: “” It will not be a good fight for him. We are afraid of that fight. “

Tim Sylvia says that the UFC was not happy that he signed with misery despite granting his release

During his performance on the Jaxxon Podcast, Tim Sylvia also spoke about how his UFC career ended after he had not offered a fight with Brock Lesnar.

He claims that the UFC would not extend its contract and hire an offer for him to combat Cheick Congo in London.

Instead, he chose to follow a contract offer for the new MMA promotion, Affliction, which he claims was not happy to release him from his contract even after they agreed.

“So we are so, okay, do you want to leave us out of the contract and the UFCs if:” Absolutely. He's gone. There you go, you've been released. ” They released me and I signed with misery, and then misery announced it, and [the UFC] Was p-. They were P – on me because I did that.

“I just did something to improve myself, and they thought I was trying to fuck them. No, you wouldn't extend my contract. So what's the problem?”
