Eddie Hearn predicts that Molly McCann will fight for a world title within the following year
After the official announcement by Eddie Hearn, Molly McCann spoke about her switch to boxing and what inspired her to make this change in a video for the YouTube channel of Matchrome Boxing.
'Meatball', who has boxing experience as an amateur, revealed that stepping in the ring was her original goal until she was driven to MMA by an inevitable obstacle in her career.
“This was always the dream. As everyone knows, I caught earlier. My weight was not added to the Olympic Games, so the only other option was that MMA and MMA gave me a phenomenal life.”
Hearn further said that because of the experience she already has under her belt, both in boxing and in fighting at the highest level in the UFC, he has high expectations on McCann.
He said that the main objective for them is currently to stay active and quickly collect more experience before they focus higher.
Hearn made the daring prediction that if everything goes according to plan, he believes that McCann will be involved in world title fights within the following year.
“Nice and active. I think we look somewhere between 6 and 7 fights and then we are almost ready to go. You will see her fight for a world championship within 12 months. I think. I just need that small ring time and I can't wait.”
Molly McCann reveals that for one reason she opted for boxing matches over other options
During the announcement of her signing, Molly McCann revealed that she had many big offers on the table after leaving the UFC.
McCann's ambitions in sport are what convinced her to draw Eddie Hearn instead of looking for the best financial opportunity.
'Meatball' said her goal is to become a world champion, but she does not expect to receive special treatment because she becomes professional as an already established star.
“I was offered many contracts in many different places that may have had a lot more money, but the ultimate goal is to be a world champion and not for some fake promotion. I want to do it legitimate. I want to give the sport of boxing the respect that it deserves … I have to earn my stripes like everyone.”
