Former world champion aspires to become president of River Plate

The statutes of the club forbid the current president, Jorge Brito, to run for re -election.

David Trezeguet was a champion of the World Cup 1998 and Euro 2000 as a player, thanks to his goal in Extra Time of the final against Italy, with the French national team, but his roots are Argentijns on his mother's side and his father, Jorge, also a football player.

Trezeguet was born in Rouen 47 years ago and grew up in Buenos Aires and although he made his professional debut in Plattesse, he arrived in Europe in 1995 to sign for Monaco and then played for Juventus, Hércules and Baniyas (United Arab Emirates) before returning to Argentinia.

River Plate brought him back before he joined the old boys of Newell and retired in Pune City in India in 2014. 'Trezegol', as he was known in football, spent only one and a half season in the 'Millionaire' Club, from December 2011 to July 2013, enough time to be steeped in with his feelings.

He drew to bring river back to the elite

It was no coincidence that Trezeguet signed for River Plate, who was exiled to the Primera B Nacional for the first time in its history. His 13 goals helped him return to the elite a year later.

Now, 12 years later, according to TNT Sports, Trezeguet is expected to be expected for the presidency of the river plate. He left his position as a Juventus ambassador in 2021 and is looking for a new project.

The former French International (71 Caps, 34 goals) is said to organize his team for the elections held in December. If he finally stands, he will be confronted with Stefano Di Carlo (29 years old), the current secretary of the club and Carlos Trillo to follow up the current President Jorge Brito, who is legally excluded from re -election.
