France has been invited to the quarter-finals of the Nations League against Croatia. The draw took place last Friday at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, with former Swiss international Johan Djourou at the centre. Thanks to their 3-1 away win against Italy last Sunday, Les Bleus took top spot of the A2 group from La Squadra on goal difference, meaning they had to play second place in the group with the second leg in France, most likely at the Stade de France, during the March international break. Apart from Croatia, France could have been drawn together with the Netherlands and Denmark.
Croatia vs France will be held on March 20, with the second leg on March 23. France last crossed paths with Croatia in the 2022-2023 Nations League with a group match at Saint-Denis' Stade de France, where the visitors won 1-0 thanks to a penalty from Luka Modric. Since then, no other team has defeated Les Bleus in Saint-Denis.
The draw for the Nations League Final Four also took place on Friday. Should Didier Deschamps' France overcome Croatia, Les Bleus will face Spain or the Netherlands in the semi-finals of the Nations League in June. The 2024-2025 Nations League will be held on Sunday, June 8.
