OGC Nice manager Franck Haise today revealed the possibility of another year of captain Dante, 41, at the club during his pre-match press conference before Les Aiglons face Reims on Saturday. In quotes transcribed by RMC Sport, the Nice manager told the press with a smile: “He is free to commit to Nice”. When asked whether he was referring to a contract extension, Haise replied: “I have my own idea. That's all I can say. My idea is shared.”
“I only saw him from a distance and understood from the first sessions why he was at this level. I don't see any decline at all in his ability to keep up and recover,” Haise said of Dante, who turned 41 in October. “He would like to participate for another year, especially his last one. I would like him to be at OGC Nice.” The Brazilian has been an emblematic part of Nice since joining in 2016. He made 295 appearances for Les Aiglons, playing 32 of last season's 34 matches in the top flight. Despite an injury that kept him out of action from October to December due to a knee problem, Dante returned to action for Nice on January 3 in a win over Stade Rennais (3-2).
