Frank can’t hide true feelings on Son Heung-min after emotional Spurs departure

Tottenham icon son Heung-Min confirmed his decision to leave the North London club prior to the new season and the new boss Thomas Frank has now spoken on his exit

Thomas Frank claims that he would still “like to work” with son Heung-Min, but claims that his upcoming exit is a “perfect end”. The 33-year-old attacker confirmed his intention to leave the club after ten years in an emotional press conference in South Korea.

He still has to confirm where his next phase will be, although it is strongly connected to a move to MLS -aldafc. New Spurs -Baas Frank was next to Son when he made his announcement – and was asked for his thoughts.

Although the Dane would have enjoyed the chance to coach the attacker, he believes that the timing is now good to say goodbye. He said: “For me personally I would like to work with him. He is a fantastic person and player.

“I had the opportunity to look at him from a distance. He has been here for 10 years at Spurs, not only 10 years but 10 amazing years. He is a real Spurs legend in every aspect. I actually think that one of the best players ever played in the Premier League as a winger.

“I like that the club has been open for it because it is never easy to find that perfect timing and I come in a bit from the side, I think it is probably the perfect timing that is going on a high. I've been won here for 10 years, won a well -deserved trophy. I have been an important player for many seasons.”

And it seems that Frank Son gives the perfect chance to say goodbye to Spurs. The former Brentford boss has confirmed that the attacker will lead the side-friendly against Premier League-Rivalen Newcastle in Saudi Arabia in the home country in their pre-season.

He added: “I think it is very clear. It is no secret that Sonny will start and the team will lead as a captain. So I am looking forward to it in many ways and whether it is the last game for Sonny, what a place to do it in South Korea, his home fans for his home fans.

“That may be a good ending. First and foremost with the greatest respect for Sonny and what he did for the club.”

With another month of the transfer window to be dealt with, attention will now focus on possible replacements that can be brought before Son's exit. But Frank has claimed that he already has a few candidates in the club.

He said: “First and foremost, when a great player leaves a team, other players have the chance to shine. Brennan Johnson is a player who could play left.

“I also think Wilson Odobert has done well against Arsenal and can play on the left and Mathys Tel is also a flexible player. I think we have a number of young promising players who can hopefully increase and take over from Sonny in the future.”
