“You should no doubt try to play the best strong points and I also think that Dominic is an attacker who can connect the game and hold the ball and sometimes fall between the lines.”
He added: “He has been great. When I say he has been here during the period, he has a real desire to play regularly and show what he can do.
“He has done everything he can do, which can sometimes be frustrating, but has treated himself in the right way. If you take such a few beats, and I know it as a player, they can hit you back and you don't feel that you are contributing to the team.
“Those things are hard to handle for every player and, looking back on it, I actually think he treated them very well to come to a place where he would have to enjoy his moment last week when he shows an individual version as he did. It is now a maintenance problem to keep him in that level.”
Lampard also quickly praised Calvert-Lewin for his rise in Everton under Carlo Ancelotti between 2019 and 2021. According to De Standaard, he said: “Not everyone comes to 17 or 18 in their first team, except the Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen types of the world.
“Other players have to find different ways and now he has shown himself last season and especially this season, he is consistently an all -round striker. Every part of his game is a real threat.”
