Frimpong says yes to Liverpool transfer with Reds contract details drawn up

Liverpool now shows a strong interest in Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong, while the Premier League champions wants to make an explosive start of their summer transfer

Liverpool has made early progress in a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen Wing-back Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold. The 24-year-old defender, who can collaborate with international teammates Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo on Merseyside, is eager to participate in the Dutch Revolution of Arne Slot in Anfield.

German sources indicate that Liverpool has now held first discussions with Leverkusen about the structure of the Frimpong release clause, which is worth a non -known, fixed fee between £ 29.5 million (€ 35 million) and £ 33.7 million (€ 40 million).

The Premier League champions would also be willing to propose a five-year contract if they decide to press the button on a deal as title-winning boss Slot Doel competition for highly appreciated right back Conor Bradley next season.

Frimpong has scored 30 goals and 44 assists registered in 190 performances for Leverkusen and Liverpool do not seem to be deterred by the fact that he can mainly be seen as a right wing under Xabi Alonso (138 of his career performances have come to the right or right midfield as a right -th-pack).

The Dutchman recently revealed that he wanted to sign for Liverpool as a nine -year -old, but collapsed his dream yacht displacement because his parents could not ride.

He explained on Rising Ballers: “I chose Liverpool first and I started signing for them, but then driving wasn't something, my family wasn't driving and it was far, Man City was locally so I tried the city.”

Frimpong spent nine years in the Academy arrangement of the city before moving to the Scottish Giants Celtic. He won a Treble with the hoops under Neil Lennon in 2020 before moving to Leverkusen the following January for an unknown compensation.

The Holland International was a key figure in the undefeated domestic campaign of Leverkusen last season when they won the Bundesliga title and DFB Pokal before she eventually lost to Atalanta in the Europa League final in Dublin.

Real Madrid remains determined to secure the services of Alexander-Arnold for the club World Cup this summer in the United States. The first conversations were held with Liverpool during his early release, but the Reds contain a fee to free him early from his contract that formally runs on 30 June.

Los Blancos has also put Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate on the shortlist while they want to sign a new center-back for incoming boss Alonso. The Frenchman has only had a year over his Anfield deal and Liverpool would like to avoid a repeat of the Alexander-Arnold-Saga because they know that Real Madrid will jump to land on a free transfer in 2026, if they get the chance.

In the meantime, Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez must now also serve an international prohibition of five matches for Uruguay after the dismissal of an appeal. Nunez, who is on its way to the exit door of Anfield this summer, was entangled in ugly scenes in the stands after Uruguay's Copa America Semi-final defeat against Colombia last July.

Last August, Conmebol sanctioned the 25-year-old and Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur, but their prohibitions were suspended after they had filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport and claimed that they acted in self-defense. However, the professions have now been rejected by the CAS, who said: “The principle of self -defense does not apply and the behavior of the players was a voluntary, violent and unjustified action.”
