From Chelsea flop to not wanted by Klopp – can Mo Salah end Ballon d’Or hoodoo

Mo Salah has spent his entire career to prove people incorrectly.

But for the brilliant, 32-year-old Talisman of Liverpool, the best player in the world would be crowned, his greatest achievement to various reasons.

From a Chelsea -Flop and then not by becoming Jurgen Klopp one of the biggest players in Liverpool while he shoots Arne Slot to a stunning debut season with 30 goals.

And we are only in February.

It is inevitable that Salah will collect his second Premier League winner's medal after Sunday's 2-0 victory in Manchester City -but could he pipper the Vinicius JR from Real Madrid to the Ballon d'Or later this year?

It is hard to believe that 11 years ago last month, Salah came to Chelsea van Basel for £ 11 million, but in his two years at Stamford Bridge only made six Premier League start and scored only two goals.

This was because he was on loan for most of his time through West London in Fiorentina and Roma.

Although fingers have always pointed to Jose Mourinho, who was in charge most of the time when Salah was a Chelsea player, the Portuguese coach said: “To begin with, people try to identify me as the coach who sold Salah. I am The coach that Salah has bought.

“I pushed the club to buy it and the moment we already had fantastic attacking players – Hazard, Willian, we had top talent there. But I said they should buy that child. “

Salah was sold when Mourinho had left the club and turned out to be a huge hit for Roma in a £ 12 million movement.

But after he had shown in the Serie A, he returned to England for £ 34 million in 2017 and yet incredible, the move was initially not sought by Liverpool Manager Klopp.

Klopp's first preference was the signing of the German international Julian Brandt from Bayer Leverkusen.

Instead, Liverpool's head of recruitment was the moment that Dave Fallows was the person who insisted that the Club Salah was signing.

Yet the Egyptian was an immediate sensation and scored 44 goals from 52 games.

Yet he did not necessarily enjoy a close, warm relationship with Klopp. It was more professional and cordial than anything.

There were occasions during his enchantment on Merseyside when Salah clearly hoped for a move to Spain, hence a few interviews with the Spanish sports newspaper Marca.

This was a surprise because he barely spoke with the English media, apart from short TV interviews immediately after competitions when he usually received the man-of-the-match award.

Even last season, Salah argued with Klopp on the touchline during the 2-2 Premier League-equal game with West Ham.

Afterwards he said he claimed that if he spoke, “there will be fire,” which was clearly illustrated that the relationship was not entirely harmonious.

By that time, Salah knew that Klopp would go into the sunset and few people expected the attacker to shine like this season under New Boss Slot.

Salah was one of the three musketeers next to Bobby Firmino and Sadio Mane. But when his brilliant attacking unit began to break out, some fans in Liverpool wanted to keep the other two.

Even at the start of this season there were some supporters who thought it might have been time for Salah to continue as soon as his contract went this summer.

But now there is no person who is related to the club who wants their talisman to leave. Despite the megageld offers from Saudi -Arabia, Salah remains – certainly – a Liverpool player.

So that means that he will still be on Merseyside if we have the Ballon d'Or prices later this year.

There was a huge protest in Madrid when the midfielder of Manchester City Rodri Vinicius appeared to the prize in October. The strange thing was that everyone in Spain seemed to forget that it was actually Jude Bellingham who won the Liga player-of-the-year Award.

But real officials decided to boycott the prices. And because they have made such a fuss, you would expect the Brazilian star Vinicius to be a strong favorite this year, albeit for the wrong reasons.

So if Salah has to win the award this year, he may have to lead Liverpool to success in the Champions League final in Munich on 31 May.

It seems a bit unfair, but that is what he stands for. But just like that, anyone who bets against this remarkable football player can be wrongly proven.

Again.
