From one UFC legend to another: Jim Miller reveals why he’s ‘not a very big fan’ of Donald Cerrone’s comeback
Two years after hanging up the gloves, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone announced his intention to return to the octagon; albeit only when the steroids leave his system, after being remarkably open about his rampant use of PEDs in his absence.
The idea that such a popular figure could return to the world's largest MMA promotion after being so outspoken about steroid consumption did not sit well with fans and his fellow fighters.

Jim Miller explains why he's 'not a big fan' of Donald Cerrone's UFC comeback
Donald Cerrone announced his retirement in July 2022 after being submitted by fellow UFC icon Jim 'A10' Miller, with the 'Cowboy' having been remarkably honest and forthright about his use of PEDs during that time away.
Speaking to veteran reporter Damon Martin via MMA Fighting, Miller reportedly explained that while he “has a hard time telling other grown men what to do,” he's certainly not a fan of Cerrone returning after he so openly bragged about his PED use.
“The fact that he was very, very open with his use of performance enhancers and the way most of his last fights went… He got knocked out a number of times and that's not going to heal if he continues like this [TRT] or whatever. I'm not too fond of it, to be 100 percent honest.
“It's not my decision, it's up to him and his team and if they want him to get hit in the head again then do your thing. I'm not a big fan of the whole steroid holiday thing. What are we doing? But he's going to do what he wants to do.”
Miller echoed many of the same sentiments as his fellow fighters, with former two-time champion Daniel Cormier questioning whether Cerrone's return is morally acceptable after such PED use; while Bellator champion Johnny Eblen argued, “Steroids don't heal your brain.”
Even Dana White isn't a fan of the 'Cowboy' returning to war, telling reporters in October, “I hate that, I hate that, I love him, hate that.”
Miller is six months younger than Cerrone, but wants to stick around for a few more fights so he can reach the magical '50 fight' count. He's currently sitting at quite the 45 UFC fights, having defeated Damon Jackson at UFC 309.
“I want to be in a situation where I'm done when I'm done,” the popular lightweight continued.
“There's no 'well, I haven't trained hard in six months, a year and now I feel better', because I'm just training and not just grinding myself into dust and then jumping back in. ”
“It's a difficult place [for Cerrone]I don't like making decisions for other grown men. They can do their own thing – whatever he decides to do, do it and do it to the fullest.”
Statements like these are why Miller remains one of the most popular fighters on the entire UFC roster; In fact, 'A10' was recently named over Khabib Nurmagomedov as the lightweight GOAT by one of the promotion's former champions.
