Liverpool talisman Mohamed Salah tops the list of 82 Premier League players whose contracts expire next summer.
With their contracts running until June 30, 2025, the famous Bosman rule allows them to move to another club for free. It all starts from Wednesday January 1, when the 82 players can negotiate with foreign clubs. As the rules stipulate, they can sign a pre-contractual agreement to decide their future long before the season is over.
This six-month rule only applies to overseas clubs, with Premier League clubs unable to speak to other top players until they have entered the final month of their contract. That is the growing concern Liverpool face, not just with Salah, but also with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Each of the Anfield trio are approaching the final six months of their respective contracts, with speculation surrounding their futures on Merseyside and Europe.
The same goes for Kevin De Bruyne at Manchester City, who, like Ilkay Gundogan, has to make a decision about his future after the four-time champions' recent slump. Rivals Manchester United have a total of six players who will soon be out of contract, namely breakout star Amad, Harry Maguire, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton.
In London, Arsenal are considering the future of midfield duo Thomas Partey and Jorginho, both of whom have played crucial roles during Mikel Arteta's time in charge. At Tottenham, captain Son Heung-min is among those at risk of leaving on a free transfer unless Spurs decide to cash in during the January transfer window.
Chelsea are among the least affected sides when it comes to contracts, with only reserve goalkeeper Lucas Bergstrom nearing the end of his contract. At the other end of the spectrum, Everton and Newcastle each have a total of eight senior players due to expire in June, more than any other top club.
Chris Wood, who has steered high-flying Nottingham Forest to second place with 11 goals, may have attracted interest from clubs abroad and the same goes for defender Ola Aina.
The Premier League could also lose an icon in the soon-to-be 39-year-old James Milner, who still needs to play 17 more league games for Brighton to break Gareth Barry's record of 653 appearances.
