Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has been voted the football player of the year 2024/25
Salah won this century with the largest margin and landed nearly 90 percent of all votes cast.
He scored 28 goals and this season provides 18 assists to help Liverpool win the Premier League, and is on track to become the top campaign of the division.
The Egypt attacker has claimed the FWA football player of the year for a record-similar third time after victories in 2017/18 and 2021/22.
It moves the 32-year-old level with ex-Arsenale striker Thierry Henry's Three FWA Awards (2002/2003, 2003/2004 and 2005/2006).
Russo will be the second Arsenal player who wins the prize after Vivianne Miedema in 2020. The enormous interest in women's game among FWA members was reflected by the fact that 36 different players received votes
The International of England excelled in her second season in Arsenal, especially under new manager Renee SLEERS.
She scored 12 goals in 20 WSL matches and is on track to win the Golden Boot next to the Khadija 'Bunny' Shaw of Man City.
She could just claim the prize in the last WSL match of the season of the season while they stand against each other with Russo's former side, Man Utd, for second place in the table.
Russo has never won the FWA prize, but claimed the double price of WSL Player of the Month and Doel of the month in December. The attacker will also play in her first Champions League final later this month, after he has scored seven goals in the competition this season.
Why I voted for Salah to be FWA footballer of the year
Sky Sports' Adam Bate:
“Ultimately, it is a number game. And the figures from Mohamed Salah tell the story. Twenty -eight goals. Eighteen assists. The player who scored the most goals and set up most goals must be the footballer of the year of football writers.
“That total of 46 combined goals and assists is 17 more than Alexander Isak and almost double that of another Premier League player. Never in the history of the competition has there been a larger gap between the man with the most goals and the rest.
“When those shameful songs also delivered the Premier League title for Liverpool, there can be no serious argument for another candidate. Salah was the difference maker this season, the decisive figure for the excellent team in the country.”
