Gabby Logan forced to apologise as pundit swears during live UCL coverage
Amazon Prime presenter Gabby Logan was forced to apologize to viewers after an expert swore in live on air.
The broadcaster on Tuesday took over the rights to coverage of Manchester City's Champions League match against Feyenoord, which ended 3-3 as City collapsed late on.
In what looked to be a routine win for the Premier League champions, three goals in the final 15 minutes of the game turned the match on its head, with City dropping even more points in their poor run of form.
After the match, the experts on Amazon discussed the game and tried to determine the reason for their struggles. Alan Shearer singled out one incident, a quick free-kick into the dying coals.
But eyebrows were raised when Josephine Henning took the microphone to give her analysis. The former Arsenal defender swore and seemed to immediately realize her mistake as she looked at Logan.
The presenter wasted no time in apologizing and seemed unimpressed as she did so to the channel's viewers.
“I'm talking about whether you're willing to accept that the situation is damn bad,” Henning said. 'Gabby looks at me like, “Oh my god, she said this!”
'It's the worst. In the second half they looked scared. I could see the fear. You have to accept it, but then you have to face it brutally.”
Logan quickly added, “I'm just looking at the time it's 10:20 p.m. I apologize.”
Social media users didn't seem too concerned, however, as one fan took to X and wrote: 'I'll say it again. The coverage of the Champions League on Prime Video Sport is of a higher level.
“Only because Josie Henning called it that. Damn it, people should be angrier. I love it!'
Pep Guardiola's side had lost their last five games – including last time out 4-1 against Sporting Lisbon in Europe – and were hoping to get back to winning ways before taking on Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield this weekend to go.
The result puts them in 15th place in the Champions League, two points behind the top eight and having played one more match than half the teams in the competition.
City have now conceded seventeen goals in their last six games, a run in which they have lost five games and won just once.
That includes a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham at the weekend which saw them concede chances at will, while they also sent four to Sporting, three on Tuesday and two on three occasions.
