Galatasaray prepared to make summer move for out of favour Barcelona star

Barcelona is expected to have a busy summer now that they are back as a rule of La Liga 1: 1, but to sign players, they first have to raise money. There are several candidates in the first team to be sold during the transfer window, and one that has won a grip in recent weeks is Inaki Pena.

Pena, graduated in La Masia, was elevated earlier this season to the starting goalkeeper of Barcelona when Marc-Andre ter Stegen sustained a seasonal knee injury. He made an impression during his enchantment as number one, but at the beginning of 2025 he was relegated to the bank in favor of Wojciech Szczesny – and he has stayed there since then.

Pena was far from happy that he was driven out by head coach Hansi Flick, especially given that Szczesny struggled in his first few games. However, he has been impressed in recent weeks and that is why there is little chance that the Spaniard will return to the line-up between now and the end of the season.

Recent reports have also suggested that Pena is not calculated by Flick after this season, especially because the idea of the club is to extend Szczesny's stay at least 12 months. As such, he is a strong candidate to be sold, especially since he no longer has a contract in 2026.

If Pena is shown the starting door, he could be welcomed by Galatasaray, where he was previously on loan during the second half of the 2021-22 season. According to Diario AS, the Turkish giants are willing to sign the 26-year-old as a replacement for Fernando Muslera, who returns to Uruguayan in the summer.

Pena left a positive impression during his previous spell in Galatasaray, and that makes him a strong candidate to be their next number one goalkeeper. Barcelona would also not make a sale, so there is many opportunities that this happens during the transfer window.
