Garcia double act powers Real Madrid into Club World Cup semis

Real Madrid is dropped off in the semi-final of the FIFA Club World Cup with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in New Jersey.

Los Blancos had effectively packed the entire control in the Metlife Stadium with the game before the break.

Xabi Alonso again opted for an unchanged starting line and it was his striker on the Song Gonzalo Garcia who ran the Spanish giants at the front 10 minutes.

The No. 30 now keeps Kylian Mbappe out of the team and he scored his fourth goal of the competition with a finish up close.

Gonzalo continues his hot line for the goal, but it was his furious namesake Fran who doubled Real Madrid's lead just before the 20 minutes.

Trent Alexander-Arnold's bustling cut went back perfectly for his fellow wing and he grabbed the chance to fire home.

Dortmund threatened both sides of the break, but without really testing Thibaut Courtois, and Aurelien Tchouameni was removed from a Los Blancos third when his Thunderbolt returned from the crossbar.

Alonso threw Mbappe the 23 minutes, but the France star was unable to leave his mark against a tiring defense of Dortmund and questions will continue about his role in the semi -final.

Strangely enough, the only check question that can be leveled at Alonso for the draw with PSG focuses on his most in-form player.

Garcia has led his unexpected chance in North -America as a line leader for the La Liga side.

Mbappe was not risking for the last group match-as Garcia scored in the 3-0 win over RB Salzburg-en The latter has been retained since then.

The Academy product scored the winner against Juventus, and again versus Dortmund, and despite the stellar reputation of Mbappe-he cannot start his stand-in against PSG.
